So sad to hear of my dear Godmother Sr Margaret’s passing. She delivered me in Mount Carmel hospital in 1979 and would regularly visit when she back in Ireland throughout my childhood. I always heard stories of the incredible work she was doing in Zimbabwe and she was truely an inspiration. I have a beautiful hard carved statue of Our Lady that she gave on one visit and it takes centre place in my home.
Deepest condolences on behalf of all the McConnell family to all who knew and loved her. She will be forever in my heart.

Sr Margaret McAllen has been a pillar, a tap root and a friend of many who passed through Mashambanzou during the HIV and AIDS era, its peak time and the after period, which has its own generational impact of the pandemic. COVID-19 came, and she was quick to serve, Mashambanzou never closed its doors. Her heart was forever open, a door that never closed! She spoke love and exuded it in all respects and lived to her religious vows till she breathed her last, 20 July 2023. She is our unsung Heroin. Zimbabwe has lost a dedicated woman to the cause of ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and even in death and to upholding the human dignity of everyone. She chose to live with the people and worked for the people. The generality of the indigent communities she served and CAFOD, has indeed lost one of its faces and dedicated partners, whom we have known for more than 20 years. Sr Margaret lived and worked for the people of Zimbabwe in ensuring that the health delivery services are reachable- outreach programmes, homebased care programmes, accessible and available for many. Many people lived because they were in gentle hands, there was warmth and hope, an invaluable asset she left and passed on to all who passed through Mashambanzou Care Trust, either as staff or as patients. Personally, I will miss a mentor and my friendship bench! My springboard for bouncing back my crazy thoughts, as she would often say, 'Agatha this pool is too deep, how do we swim?' My response would always be 'Sr Margaret prayer makes us float....' My sincere condolences to Sr Margaret's family, LCM Sisters, her friends and colleagues and the Irish community in Zimbabwe, her best friend who came to the funeral and the sister and nephew, I met. I fall short of words to describe Sr Margaret- whom you gave us and when it was time, God took His own flower. May her dear souls rest in eternal peace.
God give you comfort at this sad time.
May Sr. Margeret rest in peace.
A lovely Lady of the Lord.
Amen.

My deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Sr. Margaret's family, the Little Company of Mary Sisters in Zimbabwe and worldwide and the staff, patients and friends of Mashambanzou. It is the end of an era that began when she along with Sr. Noreen Nolan sheltered the sick sons of a woman who, in desperation, came one night looking for help. As needs were met, others emerged and, with the help of people who were inspired by their care for the sick, Mashambanzou grew to what it is today. I was privileged to be part of that story. Margaret was all things to all people. Her mischievous sense of humour broke through many barriers and she was fearless in proclaiming her faith. To me she was a friend whom I will miss dearly. May her beautiful soul rest in peace united with her loved ones who are gone before her and the countless people whom she comforted as they journeyed heavenwards. Thanks be to God for gifting Margaret to us.

It is with a heavy heart we learn of the death of a dear friend, Sr. Margaret. We first got to know her in Mount Carmel when she took good and kind care of us at the birth of our son, Peter. We share this numbing grief with her family at this saddest of times and pray that the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, will console them in their loss. Go bhfáisce Dia Sr. Margaret ina bhaclainn shócúlach is go dtuga Sé sólás daoibhse a airíonn uaibh í,
I am saddened beyond words at the death of my dear friend Sr Margaret, with whom I always called on my visits to Zimbabwe. What a loss to me and to so many others, whose lives she touched in her own gentle way!
May she enjoy her eternal reward with Jesus, whom she served so faithfully in everyone she met, but especially in those she ministered to over the years, in Mashambanzou. Thank you Margaret for all the love and support you gave to me during my years in Zimbabwe.RIP.
