Sr Marie Halligan

Sr Marie was my headmistress or St Joseph’s Catholic during the 1990s. I always remember the excitement when we were allowed to collect the conkers in autumn under the big conker tree and the box of sweets she would reward us with- only one each of course!

She was devoted to the school and her faith. She encouraged us all to be our best.

My thoughts are with all her friends and family.

So many memories of her being our Headteacher at St Joseph's in Portishead. from not being allowed jean on non unifor. day to helping my sister and I make new friends in a town when he didn't know anyone.

I worked as School Administrator from 1989-2000 with Sr. Marie as Headteacher at St. Joseph’s Primary School, Portishead. She was a real character and I have many happy and amusing memories of our time there. The children were always at the heart of everything she did. May you rest in peace Sr. Marie.

Sincere condolences to the family of Sr Marie. She was a fantastic teacher at St Fidelis School, Erith, Kent in the 1960s. She was our class teacher for two or three years until 1969 when I left. Got me through the 11plus with flying colours! Very happy memories of Sr Marie and the school.
