Sincere sympathy on the death of Sr. Marie-Thérèse, an inspirational teacher.
Anne and I have many fond memories of Sr. Marie-Thérése. She taught Anne in Mary Immaculate College in the sixties. My first official duty in that same college, on being appointed as a lecturer there, 1969, was to accompany her and some students on a day pilgrimage to the Cistercian Monastery in Mount Melleray. On our way back on the bus we recited the rosary to thank Our Lady for giving us such a lovely day. Ar dheasláimh Dé anois do Mharie-Thérése, théis di blianta an-fhada a chaitheamh i nGleann seo na nDeor!

Remembering Sr Marie Therese I’m reminded of the words of Meister Eckhart that “time makes you old but that there is a place in the soul that time cannot touch.” Ni bheidh a leitheid ann aris. May God give peace to her gentle soul . Nil si imithe uainn ach imithe romhainn.

Sincere sympathy to the family, religious community and friends of Sr. Marie-Thérèse. She always had a smile on her face and delivered her lectures (MIC 79-82), particularly on the poetry of Gerald Manley Hopkins, with such exuberance and joy. ‘Glory be to God for dappled things!’ May her kind soul rest in peace.
We had many an interesting engagement about Robert Frost. Marie-Therese brought a love of US literature and poetry. A woman before and of her time. Unique.
Keep it going, as I doubt you will rest.

Fond memories of Sr Marie Therese from our time in Mary I We loved her English literature classes and even managed to enjoy her Modh Muinte classes May she rest in peace
A breath of fresh air. A ray of sunshine, -Sr. Marie Therese- MITC, 1953 -1955. She enthused us, she encouraged us, she amused us. How we loved her English Lectures. And, then I had the added privilege and experience of being one of her "girls" in the Sacred Heart Dormitory. She was not infrequently called on to defend us when our pent up exuberance gained unacceptable expression. She was always surprised and confident that we would amend our ways.

Marie was my guardian angel and muse and her benign presence at St Mary's community in Rockledge Florida was a great blessing to all who were fortunate enough to experience her mystical gifts .Her blithe Spirit was a constant light especially in darker times..One of her many memorable phrases was "The Sacramentality of Memory" ,her memory now will continue to be a blessing to all of us who were fortunate enough to have known her. Rest in peace dear Sr Marie Thèrèse. My sincere condolences to her nephews, nieces and cousins, to the Sisters of Mercy in Limerick, to Sr Thèrèse Barry and the Residents and Staff of Catherine McAuley House. I had the wonderful privilege of sharing life with Sr Marie Thèrèse while I was in recovery. Her beautiful smile was infectious. Her engaging gentleness, inspirational. May God surround her with love. May she enjoy eternal peace.
Sincere sympathy to Marie- Thérèse's family and her Mercy Sisters in Limerick. Like all the Mercy Sisters who taught in Mary I , Marie's foremost concern was the well-being of the students, alongside their academic progress. I had the great privilege of knowing Marie as a prayer guide, when she started a prayer group for students while I was there. After college, our friendship continued, and long letters in her unique, flourishing handwriting kept us up to date. Some visits, North and South assured me,that Marie was,as Psalm 92 says:
"In old age they will still bear fruit,
They will stay fresh and green."
May Marie now sing God's Praise in Heaven, as she did while on earth.

May Sister Marie- Thérèse rest in peace . I can now hear her voice ‘There is nothing new under the sun!’.. an oft-repeated phrase which has stuck with me down the last half-century.

Sr Marie-Thérèse was the first person to teach me that contemporary Irish poetry was important. She was the first to teach me that poetry could access aspects of ourselves that no other discourse can do. When studying on my own, she would get me books from the library, under her own name, as I had no access. When I needed help navigating an MA Qualification year in UCC, she moved mountains in her own quiet, persistent way, to enable me to get my chance to do the year part-time. Very simply, I would not be where I am, or who I am, without her. may she rest in peace.
You were truly an amazing lady Marie-Thérèse .You always had a smile and treated everyone with such kindness everyday in McAuley House. Sincere condolences to all your family and friends. Rest in peace.

Marie-Thérèse showed me kindness, support, some sternness, but above all, belief, when I was her student. Without her, I would not have been able to progress my studies. She made a way, and never stopped believing. Truly, her like will never be seen again.
I feel deep regret on the passing of a former colleague, who was wholeheartedly committed to the mission of Mary Immaculate College. Sincere sympathy to her family and the community of Mercy Sisters. A very fine lady.
I have lovely memories of the exhuberance of Sr. Marie Therese during our time in College. 'Praise the Lord' was her constant expression. She made quite an impression on us. May she now praise the Lord on high as part of the heavenly chorus. Leaba i measc na Naomh di.
I will never forget her. She was a shining light in MI.
Deepest condolences to Sr Marie -Therese family and to the Mercy congregation.
