It was with great sadness that I learned of Sr Begnignus’ passing this evening . I extend my condolences to the Towey family, to the Community and Sisters of St. Marie Madeleine Postel, to the staff and residents at Mount Carmel Nursing Home her second family and to all who knew and cared for Sr. Mary Benignus. Sr Benignus was a beautiful intelligent and unassuming lady who was always a pleasure to meet when I visited my Dad Frank Ryan and Marie McDonald in Mount Carmel, she was so loved and respected by everyone who was lucky enough to encounter her. Fond memories of Sr Benignus as myself and Joannie accompanied Sr Benignus, Sr Dolores and Imelda to the Retreat Centre in Mullaghmore every year, and her delight in treating us to ice cream at her favourite shop there when we arrived.
