My deepest condolences on the passing of Sr. Bernard. I knew her from my time of visiting my aunt Sr. Regina in the Mercy convent. While taking a stroll along the banks of the Shannon one afternoon with my late uncle Fr. Eamon Kelly, I had the pleasure of meeting Sr. Bernard and being invited in to her home for a cup of tea and a chat. What a lovely lady. May she rest in peace.

I have no doubt the after shock of her sudden passing has broken the Richter Scale around Athlone and beyond. Although its been 40yrs I still have many fond memories of her from my time in St. Peter’s & Pauls School. She had a wonderful knack of always being exactly where She was needed through hardship & sorrow, and made you feel you could conquer the world if you only get through that one moment in time. Sr Bernard, I believe your life and your comforting hands has touched so many, and will continue to do so for many, many years to come. May your full and gentle soul rest in the lords heavenly garden where I hope you will give my dear sister a hug for me and tell her to stop winding up the little one. xo
