Sr. Mary Carmel O’Donoghue

Sincere condolences to Sr Mary Carmel's family and to the Salesian community on your sad loss. Sr Mary Carmel was a wonderful woman who devoted her life in the late 60's and 70's to educating the traveller children of Limerick in Salesian Convent. This was at a time when travellers, then known as itinerants, were segregated socially from the general population. Not only did she educate these children but she also clothed them and I have fond memories of delivering clothes to her as a child.

Sincere condolences to Mary Carmel's close family, her Salesian community, and all who knew and loved her. She was an outstanding advocate for the emotional well being of the most marginalised children and communities in our city and county. I had the honour of working along side Mary Carmel for the first ten years of my career and her unwavering but very quiet determination in seeking funding for those that needed it the most was inspiring. Mary Carmel was an inspiration and a great support to us all in our roles as art therapy educators, delivering training as a guest lecturer and providing placement opportunities for so many of our students over the years. Many of these students went on to work with her after graduation. She has played an invaluable role growing the profession of art therapy in Ireland and is leaving a wonderful legacy behind. She will be deeply missed. We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to Mary Carmel's family and the Salesian sisters at his time.

My sincere condolences to Sr Mary Carmels family, her Salesian family and all her friends and colleagues at the Phoenix Creative Psychotherapy Centre. I had the great good fortune to work with Mary Carmel and her fantastic colleagues in the Blue Box Creative Learning Centre and I have the best memories of my time there. Mary Carmel was an amazing woman with such drive and commitment to the children of Limerick. She was an inspiration and a powerhouse. May she RIP after a job very well done.

Mary Carmel was a very special person, so ahead of her time and devoted to helping children, young people and families in need. She was an inspiration to me, as a fellow therapist and a supervisor. Mary Carmel was the kindest, bravest and funniest lady with such compassion and love for her work and for her people. Rest easy Dear Mary Carmel after a life well lived. My deepest condolences to all who will feel her absence. Her spirit lives on in all those whose lives she touched.

My Condolences to Sr.Mary Carmel's family,Her Salesian family & Friends on the loss of a wonderful woman.while Sr.Mary Carmel was Teaching me in 1st class in fernbank we had a 'fete' held in a field nearby.She spotted a talent in me i didnt even know i had .she mentioned it to my father and about a year later i joined limerick Emerald athletic club.i had a wonderful ,Happy time for about 9 years.One of the happiest periods of my life Thanks to Sr.Mary Carmel.Luckily,i still have an almost A4 size photo of all us making our first communion with Sr.Mary Carmel in 1969.in reading other Condolences its obvious that Mary Carmel Sought tirelessly to bring the Best out in everyone she met.
