Sr Mary gave so much to the Business Studies Teachers' Association of Ireland (BSTAI) and members of the association are deeply saddened by her passing.
Sr Mary joined the BSTAI early in her teaching career, and she served as secretary of the Limerick branch for many years. She served on the national executive of the association for a long number of years, taking up many positions including SARG representative, TPN funding coordinator and national secretary. Her motivation stemmed from her love of her subjects and her determination to get the best possible outcome for all of her students. Her tenacity in securing the maximum possible funding for our association enabled our branches throughout the country to thrive in supporting business students and teachers. She was very much a lifelong learner, gaining qualifications in ICT, adult education and educational management, and she generously shared her new skills and knowledge with us.
She was such an impressive and exceptional lady with a great sense of humour, and her presence on the national executive was greatly missed after her retirement. She is fondly remembered and spoken of often. She was a trailblazer who inspired all of us who had the privilege of working with her.
May she rest in peace.

She taught me Commerce in Nenagh back in the mid 1970 and I remember her warmth and kind spirit as a teacher and at the end of that school year took us students on hiking trip to Connemara staying in a hostel, what a trill for us then getting a trip away with lots of fun while hiking, walking and cooking together, certainly a great character building experience. It's been a privilege to have known you and be touched by your positivity. May Sr Mary rest in eternal Peace reunited with her parents and brothers. R.I.P.

At school in Kilkee, St Mary's kindness 😇 and gentleness left an everlasting impression, while at the same time, she was full of energy: she just had a great aura 💞 I remember her reading a full book to us so that we could just enjoy it: just listening made us feel calm and transported. It's funny what little incidents leave a lasting impression. RIP Sr Mary 🤍 You will be sadly missed 😔 💔
