I have fond memories of Sr Mary as our Irish teacher for Leaving Certificate 1970 in Convent FCJ, Bunclody.

I will always remember her dedication and kindness with respect and gratitude.

Sincere condolences to Sr. Mary's family and FCJ Community. Sr. Mary became a very dear friend and support to me and many others here in Bohernabreena Parish. She was so kind and gentle yet full of fun and mischief. We missed her greatly when she moved to Maryville. She was instrumental in shaping the wonderful community we have today. Louisa, Christine, Jackie and I have so many lovely memories of Sr. Mary in Holy Rosary church, school and the Nook, as do all our children. From Baptism to 6th class graduation, in happy and sad times and at crazy Christmas fairs she was always there. She worked tirelessly in the Community and supported efforts to get a Community centre. You could always knock on her door and she was missed when she left. Deepest sympathy to her religious sisters, family and friends from all of us.

My deepest sympathy to the O’Neill family and the FCJ Community on the sad passing of Sr Mary.

She was one of the first teachers appointed to St Tiernan’s Community School when it opened in 1980 and together with the other FCJ sisters and staff created a caring learning environment that had the wellbeing of each individual student at its centre.

She had an exemplary dedication to her teaching and pastoral vocation and to the service of others and she, in turn, always demanded the best from her students. Her immense contribution to St Tiernan’s Community School will always be gratefully remembered.
