I was so sorry to hear of the sad passing of Sister Mary. I was privileged to meeting with her on August 27th, this year. We had a great chat for an hour, with Sister Mary telling me lovely stories about my grandparents, and about attending Mass at Grogan Church. She recalled how on a winters morning, after yoking the horse, her father would fix a lamp to the trap before heading off to Grogan When she was young she often walked along the Mass Path, with the older children helping the small ones up and over the middle stile. When she was older, she travelled to Saint Columba's Church by bicycle, sometimes leaving it at the bottom of the hill and walking up.

Special memories.

Rest in Peace Sister Mary.

I was so saddened by the news of Sr Mary’s passing. She was a part of my life since the day I was born in the school keepers house at Christ The King School where she was the Headteacher and my Dad Tim was the school keeper and my Mum Eileen was a classroom assistant. I remember the summers playing in her convent and helping Dad gardening with my brother John as well playing at the school during weekends with all my siblings and she would look out her office window. She will always be a big part of my life and in my memories for ever. We sent each other Christmas cards every year and she even wrote to me in the summer when my Mum died. Always so thoughtful and caring. God Bless to an amazing women who I’m sure is now in God’s heavenly home. Xx
