Condolences to Myrtle’s family & her ‘Community Family’ in Loreto Terrace. She encouraged my stamina & resilience as a teenager. This was very valuable in my adult life & helped me to develop insight.
May eternal rest be yours.
My deepest sympathy to Myrtle’s sisters and family and to the Abbey House Community on the death of Myrtle. I am aware many past pupils. especially of the Abbey, have been sharing memories of her kindness and wisdom in recent days since we heard of her imminent death. My memory of Myrtle goes back to when I arrived in the Abbey at the age of 12. Myrte was in charge of Third School. She was always gentle and kind. She began teaching German when I was in Grade 1. She was only beginning to learn the language herself but she communicated a great love of the language and of learning. Since then, which is 60 years this year, she kept an interest in me and in all her past pupils. May she now enjoy a well-deserved and peaceful rest.
