Sr. Nora Kathleen Hogan

Sincere sympathies to all the family.

My sincere condolences to the Hogan family and Sr. Nora's colleagues and friends. I was a 2nd grade student of hers at St. Jerome's circa 1993 and fondly remember her caring and supportive approach to teaching. She was one of those teachers whose love for children was clearly apparent. I will always remember being surprised to see her a couple years later at my own mother's funeral even though she was no longer teaching there. The time she took to be there for me and my family has always stuck with me and often reminds me of the unknown impact we may have on others. Rest in peace, sister Nora. Job well done.

Our deepest sympathy to the Hogan Family and especially Sister Mariam (Tess) who we met when traveling to visit Sr. Nora in Ireland in 2013…We loved Sr. Nora and she was a great emotional support to my mother while in hospice in our El Cerrito home. She would come to our house and pray with my mom every day before she died in 2011. I kept in contact every year with Sr. Nora and she was always a bundle of joy and hope, especially during the time Trump was in office in the USA, she always expressed how much he was a danger to our Democracy. During her time at St. Jerome Parish, Sr. Nora was a kind and gentle soul. Even if you didn't have a chance to talk to her, you always knew she was in the room. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone or anything. She also had a great spirit of fun, and would dress up in costumes for our annual Mardi Gras dinner dance. I was sad to see her leave our parish, and I was saddened to hear that she's left this world, although as a fellow parishioner said, if anyone was going straight to heaven, it would be Sr. Nora!
