My sincerest condolences to all who mourn Sr Nuala, her fellow sisters and the Mac Carthy family.
I worked alongside Sr Nuala when she taught Maths and English to young children in Templeogue. Nuala was dear to me, her kindness shown by beautiful cards for every occasion, prayers for every intention and little visits to my classroom whenever she was with us. She would delight in my class singing her a song even if it sounded dreadfully tuneless and silly. I thoroughly enjoyed her quiet humour, her wisedom and her way with people young and old. In school yesterday, we told of so many great stories of her gentle humble ways, so many laughs we had with her, so much love for life.
Rest in eternal peace dear Sr Nuala ♥️

May dear Sister Nuala rest in heavenly peace, a true lady! My deepest sympathies to Mark, Sinead, the Lynch and MacCarthy families.
To the MacCarthy Family and the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary,
Please accept my sincere sadness at the death of Sister Nuala.
Nuala was such a wonderful inspiration to us all. She was gentle and strong, kind and caring, and she was a trailblazer in so many ways. She was a great storyteller and would laugh heartily as often as she could.
Nuala had a unique understanding of children and their education and she expertly helped them reach their full potential.
I will miss Nuala so much as a wonderful friend to my family and me.

Our sincerest condolences to the MacCarthy family and the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary on the death of Sr. Nuala. The staff of Bishop Shanahan NS were privileged to work with Sr. Nuala over many years when she volunteered to teach English and Maths in our school. She was a gifted teacher whose gentleness and kindness touched the lives of the many pupils she worked with over the years. She will be remembered fondly by her colleagues for her warmth, her wisdom and genuine care for others- she brightened the lives of all those she met along her journey.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Rev. Sr. Nuala, servant of God so true,
A mother to the many, and a blessing to the few
Who knew your heart up close —
Warm, fierce, generous, overflowing with grace.
You cared for everybody, never turning away,
Comforting the suffering in your gentle, steady way.
You fed every empty hand, every weary soul you met,
A living act of kindness we will never forget.
And oh, how you drove — like a stunt on wheels,
Brave, bold, unstoppable, unafraid to reveal
Your joy for life, your fire, your fun,
Always pressing forward, always getting things done.
You called me to cut the grass, a simple little task,
Just so you could feed me — you never had to ask.
You filled my college bag with food, enough to see me through,
So my hungry stomach quieted, and I could focus, all because of you.
You listened to my stories, the funny ones I’d tell,
And you’d laugh until your whole heart rang like a bell.
Then you’d share your stories too —
And suddenly the room felt lighter, brighter, new.
A loving soul, a guiding light,
You turned small moments into gold.
And though you journey home to God,
Your love stays — gentle, strong, and bold.
Rest now, dear Sister Nuala, in God’s eternal peace.
Your care lives on within us,
And your laughter will never cease.
Jehan - your beloved Son
