Sr. Pius was our excellent teacher when we were pupils in Rockford Manor between 1972 and 1977. She was kind and helpful especially concerning our career guidance choices. Meeting her again in later years we appreciated her great sense of humour. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace. It was with great sadness that I learnt of the passing of Rev. Sr. Pius. I always found her to be a woman of kindness, fairness, a person of great understanding of the needs of people and a lady. My deepest sympathy to her family and her Presentation Community. May Sister Pius rest in Peace.

She was my Principal in Ballingarry for a number of years. She was held in very high esteem by all. She set high standards but was fair and considerate.
She was kind and compassionate and always lent a listening ear.

When she glided in to the classroom her students knew that she meant business. Sr Pius was a force to reckoned with and her pupils never considered testing her out in the manner that they tested other teachers!!!

Pius was a woman of great compassion. Her influence on those who knew her was immense.
She dispensed it in a quiet and sensitive manner. She had a great sense of humour…She listened very carefully and guided her students with insight and grace.
In later years adults who had missed out or struggled with education were greatly helped by her patience and skilful teaching.

Our sincere sympathies on the death of Sister Pius to the McHugh Family and the Presentation Sisters. She served us as an excellent Principal in Presentation Ballingarry. Sr. Pius exemplified a faith ethos of truth, sincerity, respect, hard work, high standards and high expectations. She wasn’t a sunny optimist but her vision and organisation influenced all of us and reinvigorated the school. I remember her amidst our hurling panel insisting on the compulsory wearing of helmets but also covering my class when an injured player needed care. A great leader and a noble soul, may Sr. Pius rest in peace. “Ní bheidh a leithéad ann arís”.

So grateful for the support and memories of a very kind person during my school years in Rockford Manor, rest in peace.

I worked with her when she was the principal in Ballingarry Secondary School. She supported and helped me and was extraordinarily kind when my daughter was very ill. Sr. Pius taught me Irish in Rockford Manor, Blackrock, in the late 60’s. She was a great teacher. I saw her again in Warrenmount a few years ago, and we had a great chat. She was quite frail, but in very good form.
May she rest in peace.
