My sympathy and sadness on Valerie's recent death. I recall her bravery, acceptance and brilliant letter writing. I would have so liked to attend her funeral.

Since our first meeting back in August 2001 we kept in contact & visited many times in her community home, often taking day trips together to Knock, Kylemore Abby, Cliffs of Moher along with the odd pub. Val was always interested in the life & times of her Australian cousins & often the sights during our day trips were lost to Val’s insatiable appetite for Aussie News. How great these days were.
Val was an avid writer & we loved receiving her regular mail, she was such a caring soul with a brilliant sense of humour. We are deeply blessed to have our Valérie memories.
Dear cousin Val may you eternally rest in peace in the hands of Our Lord 🙏

My condolences to Valerie's family and to her community. I have many wonderful recollections of Valerie, since our first encounter when I was preparing to join the FMM and she was a young religious. Her humanity, joy and infectious laughter left a lasting impression. After that, our paths crossed many times over the years, and her faithful prayer and encouragement were always assured. I am so grateful that I got the chance to see her again when I was home in the Summer, and that that I could follow her beautiful and moving funeral service. May she rest in peace, and may God be your strength and consolation in your loss.
