Sr.Dympna (Betty) O'Flaherty

Sincere sympathy to Sr. Dympna's family and the Presentation sisters. I knew Sr. Dympna through visiting my aunt, Sr. Alphonsus, in the convent since the 1960's. I always enjoyed meeting Sr. Dympna on those visits and hearing her latest stories and meeting her beloved cats. The kindness she showed to Sr. Alphonsus in her final years in Bandon Community Hospital was remarkable, writing to her every day and keeping her informed as to what was happening in the convent and around the parish. That contact was so important to Sr. Alphonsus, especially during the Covid period. Her kindness has not been forgotten. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dilís.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Sister Dympna.Our condolonces and deepest sympathy to her sister in law Winnie,Nephews and Nieces and the wider O Flatherty family . Sympathy also to her fellow Presentation sisters in the Bandon convent and elsewhere and the many friends and neighbours.Sister Dympna gave of her time ,Talents,and encouragement to all who came in contact with her . May she now enjoy eternal peace and happiness in her heavenly home with those who have gone before her .

She always had a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous nature which made English class interesting and eventful. I had Sr Dympna for art and although no budding Leonardo DeLynchie she taught me what she could and saw the talent in everyone. Sr Dympna was a kind and generous soul who always had others’ interests at heart. I bumped into Sr Dympna a few years ago in a West Cork garden centre and all she really needed to know throughout the course of our conversation was,...”Was I happy”? When I told her that I was she ambled off contentedly. She was a quiet stalwart presence. May Sr. Dympna Rest In Peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Sr. Dympna's passing. She taught me while in secondary school and was so cheerful, kind and good fun. I am thinking about you her family and her community sisters at this very sad and difficult time.

I remember well the still life part of our arts class & in particular the bowel of fruit we had to draw . She was lovely teacher and had plenty of laughs in her class . It is with a heavy heart but with happy memories that I offer my deepest condolences to The Presentation sisters Bandon and to the family of Sr. Dympna. Sr. Dympna had a very altruistic nature and encouraged us to be our best.

Neither History nor Art were my best subjects but she managed to instil a liking of History of Art in me which I quite enjoyed.

She had a great sense of calmness about her and could be quite funny.

My sincere apologies to the Presentation community Bandon and Betty's family on her recent passing.
She lived a long and happy life. I came to know her as I am friendly with her niece Laura. How positive and joyous she always was and so interested in everyone. I remember having fun in her company on many an occasion and with her sister Delma too
We corresponded via letter on a good few occasions and I always think fondly of her. The minute I saw her photo there, she just makes me smile remembering how she always was.
How lucky it must have been to have been taught English by her...

the presentation convent on the sad passing of Sr.Dympna also to her sister in law,Nephews, Nieces and the extended o flaherty families lovely memories of sr Dympna as a wonderful neighbour on the Hill for many years and as caring and funny teacher that showed a great interest in her student's one of greatest memories of sr Dympna was teaching English and one particular day i kept getting the spelling sincerely wrong she told me to go to top of the class and write on the blackboard the way it sounded and to this day i can remember the spelling of that word so thanks sr Dympna for your teaching career over the years in presentation secondary school may your gentle soul rest in heavily peace 🙏

Sr. Dympna was a breath of fresh air and I always enjoyed her classes. She treated us with respect, was so down to earth and brought up interesting topics to discuss. My deepest sympathies to her family and all the Presentation sisters.

I have very early and happy memories of Sr.Dympna doing a Music Course in Skibbereen ( possibly 70 yrs + ago !!) Our family took the 2 Sisters ( Sr Gabriel also) on tours of W. Cork ( and picnics!) during the week and we had great fun !!!
