Mother Máire was a beautiful soul who was a source of genuine warmth and wisdom for so many. Her beloved Community at Kylemore are in my prayers at this time in a special way. I will remember her with love and appreciation, as so many are remembering her these days. It was a privilege to have known and spent time with her. May she enjoy the fullness of her heavenly reward.

Sincere condolences to Mother Karol and community and to Sr Maire's family on the passing of a person so fully imbued with true Benedictine spirituality.
I first met Maire when she was a research fellow at St Hugh's College in Oxford and I was a graduate student in the Music Faculty based at The Queen's College. She was a familiar figure negotiating the road network of Oxford on her bicycle, and many's the fine conversation I had with her as I came to appreciate increasingly the depths of her intelligence and spirituality. My wife Patricia and I renewed our friendship with her in recent years and we were so very sad to learn of her passing. May she Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.

My sincere condolences to Abbess Karol and the benedictine convent of Kylemore Abbey, the convent of kloster Burg Dinklage in Germany, and M.Maire’s family.
I have lost a beloved, lifelong friend, whom I will miss greatly. We all have lost an outstanding personality with a loving heart, great intellect and wide foresight. She created an intellectual center through the corporation with Notre Dame university, as well as a spiritual center by realizing the plans to build a new monastery.
The west of Ireland and beyond will profit immensely from this legacy

Sr. Maire was much loved by the Connellan family. My late parents, Marie and Liam Connellan, valued her friendship enormously. We held her in such high regard, often marvelling at her great intellect, her vision and her humanity. She had a delightful sense of humour too. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.
It is very comforting to think of her now experiencing the love in the Cardinal Basil Hume quote she shared with me after Mum's death : 'Soon after you're dead - we're not sure how long - but not long, you'll be united with the most ecstatic love you've ever known. As one of the best things in your life was human love, this will be love, but much more satisfying, and it will last forever'.
