Only just heard in the past few hours that Stan had left us. He was a lovely man; gentle, thoughtful, patient and kind. Whenever we met he would greet me with “Ar an mutton”, a reference to a moat club production of our town by John o Loughlin, where I played Simon Stimpson (the conductor) and Stan would cue me in with a nod of the head and a press of the sound button. It was lovely to meet himself and Bernadette recently in Swans as it was to meet the many Moat Club members who formed a guard of honour for him today. A testimony to the high regard in which he was held. The Garda salute as the cortège turned the corner to enter Sallins rd greatly added to this.
It was uplifting for me to hear today of Stans deep involvement with an ‘Biobla Naofa’ as Cardinal O Fiach was a close relation of mine.
It was my pleasure and honour to have known you Stan. Deepest sympathies to Bernadette and family
