Aunty Steph will be sorely missed by so many.

She made extra-ordinary relationships with all whom she met. A lasting impression made, and inspired confidence where it previously lacked.

Myself and my children, Lily, Marla and Adam, will miss the chat and stories (and birthday cakes!) over afternoon tea, and the great part she and Errislannan Manor play in our holidays at Curhownagh, Errislannan.

She has played such a pivotal role in our lives, as the last Brooks of her generation.

Our love goes out to Roiscin, Doon, Christopher (RIP), Rory, Siobhan and Seamus, and extends to their families.
We love you all dearly xx

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of 'granny'. We have beautiful memories of her when we visited her in Errislannan with Amie, and met her wonderful stories and garden. Her horses showed us the hills, grass and the water. We will remember this really, really well!

The sad news of the death of Stephanie Brooks comes to me and my wife Maggie, not as a surprise in view of her long and productive life, but as a shock to us at a personal level. I spent many years working for and with Donal (always “Mr Brooks”) when I was a trainee orthopaedic surgeon in London. I am now 74 so we are getting used to the deaths of people that we know well, but this feels like the end of an era.

Mr Brooks was very kind when he invited us and our young family to spend a holiday at Errislannan Manor. We loved the estate, the ponies and of course Stephanie’s generous hospitality and friendship. I even got involved with the Errislannan hovercraft.

The news comes on a day that could be meant. One of Stephanie’s other acts of kindness was to give us one of her chocolate labrador puppies. “Anna” was a much-loved member of the family here in Suffolk and produced pups of her own. Since then, we had many years without a labrador, but as I write this, Maggie and one of our daughters are in Devon to complete the purchase of “Buttons”, another chocolate Labrador for our daughters to share.

We were very honoured to be invited to Stephanie’s 90th birthday. It was a splendid celebration and we have “dined out” on the story on several occasions.

All our memories of Stephanie are happy. We send our sincere condolences to all her family and friends in Connemara and hope to join you on the streaming of the funeral service on Monday.

I have very fond memories of Mrs Brooks and the late Mr Brooks when I was in Clifden and London. Mrs Brooks was full of enthusiasm and would come and collect the Clifden children in her jeep every Saturday morning, without fail, for riding classes and treks and drop us off again when it was over. It was our adventure of the week! She will be greatly missed.
