Stephen Burns

Only just heard of Stephen's untimely passing. Condolences to Brid, Orla, Alan and extended family. Our paths crossed many times during our careers in Revenue and at all times I found Stephen a very warm and helpful colleague. Stephen rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to Bríd and your family on your sad loss. I used to meet stephen and yourself at Mass here in Portlaw when ye visited the Loftus family. Stephen was a very pleasant man to meet, and I have no doubt his untimely death is heartbreaking. My condolences to the wider Burns and Cahill families also. May Stephen rest in peace.

Stephen in both his working life and in retirement was an absolute gentleman. He was never found wanting in guiding, helping or assisting anyone who sought his help. He was a kind, considerate, committed man in all his dealings with others and his funeral Mass reiterated all of those qualities.

The words Christian, kind, wise, committed, insightful, objective, affirming and supportive came effortlessly to mind last Friday evening when I received news of Stephen’s untimely death. May he rest in peace and may faith and human friendship console and sustain all who mourn him at this sad time of parting. It was my privilege to work under Stephen as a member of the Board of Accord Catholic Marriage Care Service. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
