Steven was a class mate of mine in castle knock college. He sat in front of me for four years. An absolute gentleman for all the years I’ve known him. He was top of the A1 class for all those years unfortunately none of his genius rubbed off on me. Last time I met was at john Gleeson funeral.
May he rest in peace.
May he rest in peace.
My condolences to all the MacWhite family. I knew Stephen from the time his family moved into Crosthwaite Park and shared a flat with him briefly in Willesden while he was working in the Lister Institute. I met him the last time at my sister Mary's birthday and came to understand his varied career. After he sent me a card for Christmas in February, I spoke to him on the phone when he was in St Vincent's Hospital. His death came as a shock to me and I will miss his gentle manner and sense of social engagement.
I was so sad to hear of Stephen's untimely passing. I had the pleasure of working alongside Stephen with the IASE. My condolences to Stephen's family
Paul deepest sympathy to you and all your family on Stephen's passing.
I first met Stephen when I became a classmate in Castleknock College in the late 1960’s. Stephen became a good friend and we met most years at class reunions and PPU events. It was a terrible shock to hear of Stephen’s passing, and he joins a growing list of former classmates now in heaven! The funeral mass on Thursday was a moving ceremony, with the large gathering of family, friends, schoolmates a testament to the affection Stephen was held in by all. May the gentle man rest in peace.

Dear Paul and family, my sincere condolences for your brother. Paul: I really wish I was able to join you today. I am sure we will see each other soon and that we will share this emotional day.
I have just been watching Stephen's funeral online from London and I am so sorry I wasn't able to get to Dublin today. Listening to the moving tributes from his family, my heart goes out to you all in your time of grief. Like many of his Castleknock classmates, we'd stayed in touch over the years. He texted when he broke his foot. When I asked him on Paddys Day how it was healing he replied with a snail emoji. His last text to me was on Friday June 2nd: "Out at last! Just in time for the good weather. Let me know if you're in town later this month. I'm relearning how to walk again."
May you rest in peace Stephen.

We are very sad to hear that Stephen has passed away. Our sincere condolences to all of the MacWhite family.
Stephen was a lovely, gentle character and we were very touched that he found a way to attend our father's funeral only 3 weeks ago. Despite not finding it easy to travel, and having had to arrange assistance at various stages of the journey, Stephen was determined to get here and delighted in telling stories of times he'd spent with our parents. He had a kind soul and a good word for all.
