I am so very shocked and saddened to hear of your passing. Your wonderful, kind, smart, compassionate soul will be missed something terrible. I got to know Stephen over the last 2 years from living in the city. I seen him daily on George's Street at his favourite cafe. Always greeting me with that friendly smile if I was just passing by or stopping for a wee chat. He had such a caring way about him and gave great advice and nice talks when life got tough. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear about Stephens passing. Just thinking back to us all growing up, the first thing I remember is a big gang of us making our way into the Olympic, Stephen was so into his music, had us all little ravers back then. I've spoken about the friends I've made at Simon's Place over the past good few years, which I've since dubbed The Simon's Community.

Over the last two years in particular I've become friends with Ste, and the depth of our connection has given me a wonderful reminder of how there are many many people out there who will, from the moment you meet, build you up.

Me and Ste have picked one another up off the floor many times during periods of our own difficulties, and we have shared the best laughs and most meaningful experiences of connecting, and all because we both took a chance of small-talk over a coffee way back when.

I found out he died today and to say I'm devastated is an understatement. Ste was a shining light of what it means to be truly human, truly vulnerable and in his own moments of need he always always reached out to comfort me and many others. He proved to me and was a constant reminder to me that the most wonderful, visceral and impactful connections are possible with the people we haven't met yet and I absolutely loved him for this.

He adored my dog, Gus, and me and Gus were planning a walk in to see him again this coming Friday.

A kind, compassionate, hilarious and wonderful human being who I've rarely seen have such an incredibly positive impact on so many people. I'm gonna miss you so much.
