We in Knockane Festival Committee would like to extend our sympathies to all of Steve's family and friends on his very sad passing and remember his great kindness, thoughtfulness and dedication to our Winterfest and Tractor run for many years. Steve was always jolly and good humoured, so he perfectly fitted the Santa role and usually got the unenviable job of leading the cavalcade of vehicles from a very exposed "sleigh", generally this was in bitter December temperatures and he often came back with the symptoms of exposure. But, he suffered all of this without complaint and never looked for or wanted gratitude for it, his only thanks was in seeing the smiles on the faces of the young and old ( especially the residents of Saint Anthony's nursing home, he always orchestrated the route, so that they could be included in the plan) as the blaze of lights and automobiles made it's way through many towns and villages. For this great generosity of his time and his spirit, he will be long remembered among us and we will be ever appreciative of his goodwill. May he rest in peace

On behalf of Sean,Terry, the residents and staff of St.Anthony's nursing home,we would like to offer our deepest sympathies to Stephens mother Hazel, his devoted wife Chris and his extended family. It is very hard to put into words just how much Steve will be missed here.Fom his regualr visits to see his Mum to the many surprises he planned for her over the years,Steve was ever present in his Mums life.He did everything he could to put a smile on her face, giving her many reasons to be proud of him.Stephen could never do enough for people. One Christmas he suggested stopping by the nursing home so the residents could see the tractor lights, this soon became an annual tradition and was the official start of our Christmas celebrations every year since. He would dress up as Santa and greet all our residents before helping his Mum to push the button, igniting the Christmas lights. It was not just at Christmas time that Stephen would help us,he got us into many different St.Patricks day parades as well as led our very own parade in our car park.Stephen had wonderful ideas and was always thinking of new ways to raise money for charities. He gave of his time so selflessly. He was funny, kind and so respectful of everyone here.Even on his hard days,he managed to visit his Mum and make sure she was ok...a testament to the gentleman that he was.Stephen,we hope you are at peace now.You put up a brave and courageous fight and bore your illness with great strength and dignity. Rest in peace Stephen
