I was visiting Dublin last week and was so sorry to learn of Stephen’s sudden death. The Walsh family lived next door to us for many years at St Columba’s and Stephen was a good friend when we were growing up. While we haven’t been in touch since I moved overseas, the many tributes illustrate that Stephen lived a full and rich life, surrounded by family and friends, and I wanted to express my condolences to Brian in particular, but also to Mary and all of his much loved family.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Mary, Sarah, Josh, Maria, Brian and to all the Walsh & Coleman families on the death of dear Stephen - a gentleman of the highest order. He was such an inspiration and role model to everyone - wise, kind, modest, talented, generous with his time and his many talents, a wonderful husband, son, Dad, Grandad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Go raibh solas na bhfleabheas agus leaba i measc na naomh aige.
My dear Mary, Sarah, Josh & Maria. I only heard today of Stephens passing. It was a terrible shock. Spoke to him Easter weekend.
Knowing him for almost 20 yrs, we had lots of laughs, story telling about every proud moment he had as a dad with his children. There was nothing like the joy in his life been a granddad. He was always in a hurry to go home so he & Mary could babysit. We were not just good friends we had the love of the Red Heads & Wallshe ohh & home made food. He loved my brown bread & marmalade. Due to unforeseeable circumstances he got neither on his last visit. Stephen you will probably meet up with Frank & have loads to catch up with. One more thing Stephen wrap your wings around Mary the kids & the grandkids as they navigate this new journey with you. May the bed of heaven be yours after all you deserve then best.
RIP STEPHEN 🙏🙏🙏

Deepest sympathy to all Stephen's family on his very unexpected death especially Mary Josh and Katie
Sarah I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. My sympathy to you and all your family x
Mary, please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences on Stephen's untimely passing. He convinced me to be his Vice-Captain in KGC - one of the best things he ever did for me - I again have to thank him for the privilage and honour of following in his footsteps. When I took on the captaincy his sage advice was given freely, with no judgement, and was always welcome. We played music together and being a fellow bassist, we even sang together. I found out also that we had so many connections through work that we were able to continue to advise KGC on various matters. His sense of humour and committement to everything he did will be missed. To you, Sarah, Josh and Maria I send my thoughts and prayers.
To the Walsh family my sincere sympathies. It was always good to meet Stephen at the golf club but I had not realised he had so many talents and gave so much to others until I heard at the funeral. A special guy and we will all miss him greatly.
Our sincere condolences to Sarah, Barry & all of your family on the sad passing of your Dad, Stephen. May his kind & gentle soul Rest in Peace.
Mary

My deepest sympathies to you and your wonderful family. As you know Stephen and I were colleagues for many years. More importantly he was a dear friend who would frequently catch up with me.

Last Friday we spent the day together and it’s hard to believe that was the last time I would have pleasure of his company.

Stephen was one fine human being, filled with a true sense of compassion and humility. It was always a great day if you got to meet or speak to him. He was caring and always thinking of others.

May you all take comfort in all that you have done as a family. He was proud of you all and I knew all about you, your families and careers as Stephen spoke so proudly of his family. Test in peace Stephen. Take care.
So sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Dad Sarah. Our sympathy to you and your family at this sad time.

Barry family, Anne John & Michelle.
I first met Stephen when he was introduced to me by John Barry of WTW as a potential support for my team in TII. I liked him immediately. Calm, direct and with a great sense of humour, Stephen was a trusted advisor and formidable colleague. He was enormously generous with his time and patience, happy to share his extensive expertise with those less experienced than himself. He was a colleague, teacher, mentor and team player but above all he was a gentleman to the core. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary and the Walsh family at this difficult time. He adored all of you and told family stories with great pride, especially about his beloved grandchildren. May he rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to Mary, Sarah and all the Walsh family and Barry and grandchildren on the passing of Stephen. He will be a massive loss to you all. May his gentle soul rest in peace and my God comfort you all at this sad and difficult time.
It has been an honour to know Stephen and have him join our family. He was a great example of a husband and father. A fun and witty man whose love and kindness to his family knew no bounds.
I was shocked beyond belief to hear today of Stephen’s passing. I met him a few weeks ago whilst he was out walking and we stopped to chat about times past. He was always in form for an ould natter about mutual acquaintances. I had the privilege to coach his lovely daughter Sarah in Kilmacud Crokes at ladies football. Stephen also spent several years organising the juvenile Saturday morning sessions for Crokes and he put his own organised systems in place to help that section thrive. To his entire family I pass on my condolences. Rest in Peace . Brendan
Deepest sympathies to all the Walsh family on the passing of Stephen.

Mary and I would like to express our sincere condolences to Mary, Sarah, Josh and Maria and extended families on Stephen’s sudden passing. We are sorry to miss Stephen’s funeral as we are abroad. May Stephen rest in peace. Jerry O ‘ Brien and Mary Griffin.

Our sincere condolences Mary and all of the family on the sudden passing of Stephen. We only knew him to wave to and say hi as a passing neighbour but he seemed like a real gent. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time.
I was so sorry to hear of Stephen's passing. He was such an amazing man and a great friend. He provided great support and encouragement to me over the years. He was full of great stories and laughter. I was lucky enough to enjoy his company over many a long lunch or game of golf. He will be dearly missed. He was so proud of his family, and the stories about the joy that he got from his grandkids always brought a smile to my face. Rest in Peace Stephen(aka Mr. Miyagi).
To Mary, Sarah, Josh, Maria and the Walsh family.

I was deeply saddened by the passing of Stephen. I only met Stephen on a few occasions whilst he was working with TII, and although my chats with him were short I could tell he was a devoted family man, a proud grandad with unwavering love for those close to him.

He was smart, witty, confident, respected by those who had the privilege to know him and he was very much the epitome of a gentleman.

My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Deepest sympathies to the Walsh family at this difficult time. I was very sad to hear of Stephen’s sudden passing. Stephen was a kind and wonderful colleague and a true gentleman. I really enjoyed talking to him about art. May he rest in peace.
I am shocked with this news - only met Stephen a few weeks back and he was in great form as usual. We used to talk about lots but it would always include plenty of good interesting stories and updates about all his family of which he was so proud. Sincere sympathy to you Mary and all your family on Stephens passing - may he rest in peace.
Our sincerest condolences on the sudden and untimely death of Stephen. The Irish Contingent( old Sedgwick Forbes staff) will not be the same.We have lost a good one that’s for sure
To Mary and all of the Walsh family, you are in our thoughts at this desperately sad time. Stephen was such a lovely gentleman, and so kind to all the children on the road. In recent years we got to see a lot more of Stephen out on the road, and it was so nice to see how good he was at making time for important things- you, his family, your gorgeous grandkids, his singing, his faith, his golf, his walks... while at the same time, continuing to keep his hand in with consultancy work - he was some man, and will be deeply missed by so many. Rest In Peace Stephen.
My heartfelt condolences to Mary, Sarah,Josh and Maria and the extended Walsh family on the sad passing of your beloved Stephen. I had the rare privilege of working with Stephen as part of the Governance & Legal team in TII for the past number of years. He was a wonderful mentor and was an expert in his field of insurance. His sharp brain, analytical mind and calm temperament made him a great and hugely supportive colleague.

He was a true gentleman and had a voice for radio. His genuine interest and curiosity about people and the world was infectious. His sparkingly wit and winning smile made him excellent company. He was fun to be around. He had so many friends and interests but above all he was a devoted family man. His eyes lit up when he spoke about his wife, children and his grandchildren whom he adored.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad and difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear of Stephen's passing. I worked with him briefly and was honoured to have met him. My sincere condolences on his passing.
I first met Stephen in Sedgwick Forbes where I started my working life after leaving school back in the 70's. He was most welcoming and supportive.

Our paths crossed over the years through St Brigid's parish.

Stephen was Captain of Kilmashogue G.C. in 2022 the year I was Captain in Rathfarnham G.C. and so we enjoyed many games of golf and dinners in each others company that year. A nicer guy you couldn't meet.

My sincere condolences to Mary and the family. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.
My sincere sympathy to Stephen's family. I worked with him for a few years back in the 90's and remember him fondly as a good colleague, good fun and a gentleman. May he Rest in Peace.
To Mary, Sarah, Josh and Maria, I'm so sorry for your loss. You will hear many times in these few days what a thorough gentleman Stephen was. He was also personable, funny and caring. It's perhaps unusual to have fun working with your insurance broker, but that was always the case with Stephen. I looked forward to meeting him, speaking with him or arguing with him over a case, and that would inevitably turn into a bit of banter and finish in a laugh. We got to know each other well and would speak of our children, of their endeavours and achievements. He always spoke so fondly and proudly of you all. He was making the most of his retirement and he would call to let me know what he was up to. I wish I'd had the opportunity to hear him sing. He will be missed by so many. Sleep gently Stephen.
We would all like to extend our deepest sympathy to you Joe and your entire family on the sudden passing of your beloved Dad. We are all thinking of you at this very sad and lonesome time. May he rest in eternal peace in the kingdom of heaven.
Sincere condolences to all of Stephen's family. I have good memories of working with him for a small slice of his insurance career, and echo what others have said here about his integrity, professionalism, generosity and being an all-round good human. May he rest in peace.
