It’s already 5 February and I’m only now hearing this very sad news. I have very fond memories of Steve who taught me history at CBS Roscrea. He was an utter gentleman and a very good teacher. My deepest condolences to Steve’s family on this very sad loss. Fond memories of a lovely man. Rest in peace, Steve, and thank you.

Sincere sympathy to Rose, Niall, Brian, Mary, Orla, grandchildren and extended families on the sad death of Steve. I was lucky enough to have started in CBS in 1967, the same year that Steve arrived in Roscrea. Steve was a wonderful teacher and gave great guidance, always kind and sincere. He gave freely of his time in coaching and encouraging youth in many sporting fields. He was a great community man and I have fond memories of working closely with Steve in Roscrea Golf Club. So Sorry to find out that Stephen passed away. The family used to stay in a room in my parents home in 4 Lenaboy avenue Salthill for a week or two in the Summer & I was younger but remember him as a lovely pleasant lad in his teens.

Steve was a dedicated teacher and administrator for many years in Roscrea CBS who left a lasting mark on his pupils through his commitment to teaching and his kindness to them. He had a great conviction about the importance of community as evidenced in his work in Roscrea in many different capacities. Above all, he has left a wonderful legacy through his graciousness and gentleness as a person. He is now at peace with the God he served so faithfully over his long life.
