Steve Duggan

My sincere condolences to Mike, Cecelia and the extended Duggan family. We grew up together and played football at all levels for Ballyhaise. Steve was a wonderful footballer and excited spectators playing for Cavan for many years. He was always upbeat and enthusiastic and at all times had a warm welcome for Irish people in New York. He will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.

We wish to send our condolences to all of Steve’s family and friends, especially to his brother, Mike, and sister, Celia. Steve was also the proud father of his late son, David. He spoke so highly of the wonderful life David had established in Spain with his lovely wife, Laura, and their beloved daughter, Erin. Steve also had many loved ones, friends, former football teammates, and patrons in the UK, Ireland, Spain, and US. Our thoughts are extended to all of you as well. He was a renowned Irish football star, successful entrepreneur, and lover of thoroughbreds. In addition to promoting renowned Irish balladeer, Paddy Reilly, Steve introduced Manhattan’s east siders to various talented Irish musical artists, including Black 47, The Prodigals and more recently, Hozier. He leaves behind a legacy of memories for us to share and may their retelling, offer comfort to all of us who knew him. May he RIP.

I first got to know Steve in 1972 when we played soccer together with a team called Cade's county and over the next four years we won nine of the twelve trophys we played in. My last meeting with Steve was in Paddy Reilly bar in New York his son Dave was there on the night and we had a wonderful time and some great photos as a souvenir.rest in peace Steve.

I was so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. Condolences to all his family and friends. Like many others, Steve helped 3 of us out when we arrived in New York. He sorted us out with an apartment and jobs in Paddy Reilly’s bar. He was so kind and great craic and always looked out for the Irish in NY. I have many fond memories of him. May he rest in peace
