Very sad to hear of Stewart's passing and my sincere condolences to Barbara and his family. I first met Stewart in 1968 when as a geology student (with a generous bursary from CRH) I had a summer job at Roadstone in Bluebell Stewart, with his boss Fred Norman and Declan McGuinness, was great fun to work with, although Don Godson and Edmund McAleer were rather more formidable entities. Stewart showed me the ropes, introduced me to many other famous Roadstone characters like Charlie Maybury, and made me feel part of the team. I met up with Stewart many years later and he was still the same guy although in a more senior role, but his conversation always revolved around Barbara (whom I never met) and his second love, diving, with alarming stories about Killary Harbour intended to lure me into the sport. I'm sure he will be sorely missed by all his family and friends, may he rest in peace.
Dear Barbara, Duncan and Gordon.
Please accept our deepest condolences.
Uncle Stewart was always full of great advice that as kids we probably did not appreciate at the time, but as we grew to become adults his advice made sense.
He will always be in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.
Love Mike, Julie and Joshua
Deepest condolences to Barbara, Duncan and Gordon on Stewart’s sad passing.
I have great memories of Stewart when CFT decided to go it alone and move to the little office beside the Maritime Museum Dunlaoghaire, then to the new office in Patrick Street. These were huge decisions at the time which he and John O'Connor, etc carried out with expertise. He was always available when advice was needed .
