Je pense bien à toi dans ces moments difficiles. Je repense aussi a ce chouette voyage que nous avions fait il y a une dizaine d années en Irlande. On avait eu l occasion de rencontrer ton papa et le grand tableau qui le représente. J ai aussi le souvenir de toutes les déclinaisons de pommes de terre préparées par ta maman. Bref un foyer où il fait bon vivre. 😉 Je te souhaite de pouvoir garder toutes ces petites et grandes choses que ton papa a construite dans ce foyer. Gros bisou mon séany ❤️

As Sean's Belgian friend, I haven't often had the opportunity to spend much time with his father, Stiofan.

My first memory dates back some twenty years, during my first trip to Ireland. While passing through Galway, Stiofan offered to drive us around for a day in his car. Having travelled these roads countless times for work, he knew them like the back of his hand, and we were able to discover remote corners of Connemara that we would never have visited on our own. From village to village, fisherman to fisherman, family member to family member, we saw many people and places with ease, without ever feeling like we were intruding.

A few years later, we gathered with some friends from KPI for a game of poker and whisky in the family dining room in Galway. Even though we were eight young adults who didn't speak English very well (if at all), Stiofan managed to put everyone at ease with just a few sentences. (Perhaps to better charm us and win the game more easily.) We always felt comfortable in his company. As had been the case a few years earlier.

Today, the entire KPI and Belgian family is thinking of you, Sean, but also of your mother, your brothers and sisters, your nephews and nieces, and all those who had the good fortune to cross paths with your father.

Je suis vraiment désolé d’apprendre cette nouvelle, Sean. Je pense fort à toi en ce moment difficile, et à ta famille. Je te souhaite beaucoup de courage et que le temps panse la douleur. Notre porte est ouverte si tu veux parler. On prendra soin de toi. Je te fais un gros câlin.

Sincere condolences to Stiofans family. What a man I met him through Galway ladies football.what energy he had and a love for the club .him and his wife travelled the country supporting the team giving all the help he could to make club successful. He was so proud of his family and loved watching Meabh and her success in the game . Many the laugh I had with him and also football discussion, he will be missed .

I had the privilege of playing with Stiofan on the Carna team winning a junior championship in 1973 and 30 years later in 2003 both of us ran the New York Marathon together.
