I had the absolute pleasure of working with Stuart for a few years in AIB. He was a gentleman and had a heart of gold. We bonded over rugby (He was Belvo and I am Marys).

What stood out for me was his wit and his way to find fun and a laugh in everything.

We had some great lunches and trips away. He will be missed. Rip Stuart.

Sincere condolences to you Duncan and the extended Leopold family on the passing of Stuart. His jovial manner ensured that he was always very popular in all company. I have very happy memories of his long time in AIB Group Internal Audit and working with him in Ireland and abroad. He was an ardent stalwart member of Old Belvedere RFC and was their Fixtures Secretary when I held a similar post in St. Mary's RFC. so we crossed paths regularly . He will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Stuart.

I was fortunate to be President of Wanderers FC (2015/16) the same year that Stuart was President of Old Belvedere RFC. We enjoyed many dinners and outings together that year, and have remained in contact and enjoyed many more social gatherings together since. It was always a pleasure to be in his company.
He will be sadly missed by the rugby community and especially all of the past Presidents in our group.

Have some great memories of Stuart over the years mainly through Rugby.He also lived beside us when he first married. Always a smile on his face.

We have so many happy memories of Stuart from his days in London - rugby matches, long lunches, long parties and most of all his and Helene’s legendary Christmas parties at their house in Castlebar Park.

Stuart with his impish smile, swift wit and gregariousness was always the life and soul of any gathering.

We well remember the day he came back from Dublin with a box of Galway Bay oysters 🦪, announced he didn’t like oysters and proceeded to give them away. That was typical of his generosity and thoughtfulness for others.

Stuart will be greatly missed not only by his family and friends in Dublin but also by many friends of all kinds and persuasions he made in London and elsewhere

I only got to know Stuart in very recent years through my involvement on General Committee in the Stephen’s Green Club, on which Stuart had served with distinction in different capacities over many years.
As befitted his professional life, he was always fully read and informed. Yes, Stuart could sometimes be acerbic, but if he paid you a compliment with a word of encouragement for an idea, it was considered, important and meant something.
A true ‘Club’ person.
