Susan was a truly remarkable lecturer the kind who left a lasting impression on everyone she taught. Her classes were something you genuinely looked forward to; not only because of the knowledge she shared so generously, but also because of the warmth and care she brought into every lecture.
She always greeted you with a kind, sincere smile, and it was clear she genuinely cared for each of her students. I especially cherished those moments of meeting her in the corridor and having a friendly chat.
Susan’s presence brought light and warmth to the college community, and she will be sorely missed by all of us.

Dear Paul and family of Susan.
I write to you having just heard the news of Susan's passing. I am very sad. We worked together for the Daughters of Charity in the 1990s and more recently I used to meet her every year when I came down to St Angela's as I was an external examiner there for several years. Susan was a comfort to work with because she told it like it was [not many can do that]. She had the perception to see to the essence of a situation and to act accordingly, additionally she was fun to be around. I know she faced her illness not only with fortitude but with an insight that was based on her reflections on the life she had lived. I will miss her and I wish you Paul and her brothers and sister all strength in facing your bereavement.

I felt truly privileged to have Susan as both my lecturer and supervisor during my undergraduate and master’s studies at St Angela’s. She had a profound influence on my academic development. Through her teaching in disability studies and her steadfast dedication to the social model of disability, Susan opened my eyes to new and meaningful ways of understanding disability, social justice, and equality.
Her lectures were both challenging and inspiring, and the knowledge and values she shared have stayed with me long after I left the classroom. Susan was someone you could always turn to for guidance, and she had time for everyone. She was a true lady — gracious, kind, and always ready with a warm and welcoming smile
