I really regret that due to sickness I was not able to be there this week to help mark Susans untimely passing. I knew Susan through work for many years. We first met when she was working with YMCA, then she trained as a facilitator in the Social and Health Education Project where she facilitated groups and was a panel member in Coisceim counselling. Our paths continued to cross In more recent years when she became a Psychotherapist and recently a Supervisor. Susan had a unique ability to connect with the people she met in the course of the work she did in different settings. In particular she connected with young people in a special way that, I am convinced, gave much needed support and help at times of stress and loss.
I can only guess at the sense of loss in Susans family now and send my sincere sympathy at this very sad time. I will remember Susan with admiration and warmth

Susan was a wonderful human being, very kind and with a generous spirit.

She was the first friend that I made in Ireland, and her friendship helped me a lot in the beginning and over the years. She will always be in my heart.

May she rest in peace.
Lia and family I am so sorry for your loss. Susan was such a wonderful person. I shared an office with her in the YMCA and she would light up when she spoke of you. The joy she took from being Noah's grandmother was clear to all. She was lovely to be around, and so knowledgeable. She never made a fuss but would fight bravely for the rights of those less fortunate and did amazing work. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace and may you all find comfort through this heartbreaking time.
So, so sorry to hear of the death of Susan, a lovely, lovely person. I am reminded of another sudden death, of Eithne in 1995. Then, late one night I arrived to Susan's house in Ballincollig with my two young girls, Lisa (7) and Étaín (2+); Susan had offered to mind them while I dashed to Scotland for the funeral. When, several days later, Dearbhla and I returned, worried about the girls (first time away from their parents, and vice versa) we found them quite happy there with Susan, who was only worried about her cousin's loss. That, to me, was so Susan.
May her gentle soul be free in God
