Mrs Woods was my teacher almost 45 years and I have such lovely memories of her. The few times a met her as an adult were heartwarming and nostalgic. She always radiated warmth and sincere enthusiasm for every person she met, and I’m sure, I’m one of hundreds of children turned adults, that she had a lasting impression upon.

It is with great sadness we extend our sincere condolences to J.J, Sonja, Keith and the extended Woods and Byrne families. We will cherish all the memories of her generosity and kindness, her smile and her tremendous sense of fun. Susan was an inspirational teacher. I was lucky to share a number of years with her when we taught together in the "Shared area" in Ballycane. I witnessed at first-hand her gentle spirit and the love and respect she showed towards all the children that came through our door. Susan was a wonderful mentor to me as a young teacher and I thank her for that.
We know the road ahead will be hard for all the Woods and Byrne familes but Susan will send you all strength and courage.

I was very sorry to hear of Susan’s passing. She was my senior infants and second-class teacher, and one of those teachers you never forget. She was warm, kind and generous, and over the years would always stop for a chat if we met, recalling moments from our school days that I had almost forgotten myself. I am heartbroken that we have lost dear Susan. My deep condolences to JJ, Sonja, Keith, Michael, Peter, Sean, family and friends. When mom was unwell and bedridden due to old age, Susan would call her often in Chicago with a kind word and funny story and always make her day.
