Ted was my teacher in Castledertmot so many moons ago but I have never forgotten him. In a school where the shadows often fell heavily, he was a ray of brightness and colour. We were enthralled by him and by his musical ability.
I only heard of his death last week and am so sorry to have missed his funeral.
In fourth class, I remember bamboozling him with questions about whether a soul in heaven could swap with a soul in hell to give them some time away from suffering! He listened, discussed, answered (didn't laugh, out loud anyway) and - most importantly - respected the opinions of the young boys in his care.
He was a wonderful teacher.
May he rest in peace.
— John MacKenna
