Auntie Teresa was great craic. She and Gerdy were a lighthouse of banter and fun. The house was like a train station, you could drop in there anytime before rolling on somewhere else. One Saturday, I showed up around midnight with three scrawny teenagers on the run from Tipp. We had been refused entrance into every dance hall en route, failing to comply with 1980s dress code regulations. Teresa found the whole thing hilarious and Gerdy, outraged at the hypocrisy of it all, fixed us up with some suitable attire. That about sums them up. ...So long, Teresa. You will be sorely missed.
