I’m so sorry to hear of Teresa’s passing. She was kind hearted, hard worker, great fun, a unique sense of humour and always on hand to make a cup of tea for patients and colleagues. It was a pleasure to work with her in AE for so many years. God rest her soul.

She never left the house she knew,
The one that always looked brand new
Where tables were laid and windows gleamed,
Where parents loved and children dreamed.

She lived where once her mother stirred
The Irish stew, the softest word.
Where father’s boots stood by the door,
And laughter echoed across the floor.

The hallway bore a hundred feet,
Of siblings wild and summers sweet.
With shared beds and creaky stairs,
And secret snacks and bedtime prayers.

Auntie stayed through all the years,
Through birthdays, weddings, parting tears.
She tended plants her mother grew,
And all the things her father knew.

The rooms grew still, the house grew thin,
As life moved out and time moved in.
Yet she remained, the steady light,
A keeper of the hearth each night.

She told the tales like sacred songs
Of sibling fights and rights and wrongs,
Of sink hair washes, fights for seats
And bare feet dancing in the street.

And when we’d visit, grown and tall,
She’d greet us in the stairwell hall.
The kettle on, the chairs just right
The past alive in warm room light.

She never asked for more than this:
A home, a hug, her sisters kiss
She lived a life both still and grand,
With every memory close at hand.

And now shes gone, the house will weep,
For secrets it was sworn to keep.
But in our hearts, that door stays wide
Where aunt still lives and love resides
