Dearest Marian, Deepest & sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved soulmate Terry. He was a great man. Sending all our love and best wishes at this sad tough time. May his gentle soul rest in peace x

Dear Marian,
I was so sad to hear about Prof. Terry's death.
I feel lucky because I was one of his students. I was given kind guidance, support and encouragement for my studies. Still, I remember the hospitality given to me by you and Prof. Terry. May my dear teacher rest in peace.
I was shocked to learn of Terry's death, upon returning from a trip.

Terry had been a professor in Buffalo, New York, as I at a different college. We were fast friends from his arrival in Buffalo in the mid-1980s; he even sometimes baby-sit for Nina, daughter with my wife Beata. This was before he married Marian and happily went off to Ireland.

We remained in contact over the years, once I going to Galway and our often meeting at professional conferences. He was always warm, gentle, intelligent, principled, and committed.

To Marian and the rest of the family, Beata, Nina, and I send our deepest condolences. We are greatly saddened by the news.
May Terry Rest in Peace

Dear Marian,
I was so sad to hear about Terry's death. He was such a warm, intelligent and peaceful man. The world is a sadder place for his absence. He was devoted to you and, as a couple, you embodied togetherness. It is cruel that he has been taken from you at a time when you would have been looking forward to a long life together. Terry was a truly good person and I'm sure you take some consolation in that and the great years you together. At the first opportunity I will come to visit. Affectionately, Kieran
Dear Marion,
I am so sad and sorry to hear about Terry. I met Terry in 1978 at UMass Amherst when we started out as grad students. He was smart and kind. After leaving Amherst, our paths crossed only occasionally -- usually at economics meetings. The last time was a wonderful dinner we had together in Galway in June 2016. I am thinking of you and sending my love and deepest condolences.

People Before Profit members are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Terrence McDonough. In a discipline that often assumes that capitalism is natural, Terry stood out as someone who openly critiqued the system in sharp and clear ways. An original thinker who did not confine himself to conventional notions of economics but entered discussions on the nature of colonialism in Ireland or the role of migrant workers in a modern neoliberal Ireland. He will be sorely missed and we send deepest sympathy to his wife and family.
So shocked to read that Terry has died, he was an inspiring lecturer when I was a BComm student in the 2000s. Sincere condolences to his family.
