Sincerest condolences to Tessie’s family on their sad loss. It was a privilege to have grown up next door to such an intelligent and interesting lady who always supported learning and education especially that of children. I remember when I was maybe 10 or 11 being interested in stamps and without a hesitation, Tessie showed me and gave me many wonderful stamps she had collected over the years from all over the world. I remember also getting vegetables and potatoes from her and Robert for mum and dad and them being so pleasant and kind. She will be sorely missed and I know my parents Carmel and Bertie and brother Stephen will miss her terribly. May she rest in eternal light and peace.

I have fond memories working in Lifford 1980 /81 Tessie was just brilliant. Managed the practice and different personalities with great expertise. I have always enjoyed keeping in contact with Tessie . Her local knowledge on social and historical happenings was better than any Google! Sincere condolences to Paula and Karl. It was absolutely marvellous to see your mother in her own kitchen for all those years . An absolute credit to you all. RIP my lovely Tessie.

Tessie McGettigan was the most sincere caring person who always made you feel warm and welcome. We always looked forward to our visits with her over many years. She was an inspiration with her knowledge and memory recall. Her love of Donegal was evident in that she shared this with family members now living overseas, connecting them with the land of their forefathers - and to reconnecting family members with their family history. In my case she led me to connections with McGettigans who emigrated to Philadelphia in the 19th century, including my Great Grandmother.
I will always be grateful to Tessie for this.

Karl and Paula, We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved Tessie — our Great Aunty Tessie, as we knew her. Mum often spoke of her with such warmth and admiration, and they used to write to one another regularly. It was truly special for all of us to finally meet her during our adventures over to Ireland at different times over the years, the last time being in 2016. Those memories remain cherished ones for each of us.

We like to think of her and Mum now, reunited and catching up in heaven — two beautiful souls sharing stories once more.

I'm extremely sad to hear upon the passing of my beloved neighbour Mrs. Tessie McGettigan...

I was extremely grateful to visit her on her 100th birthday back in November 2023 and reading out the letter from President Higgins, she also had vivid memories of the older years.

I'll also never forget her warmth and kindness growing up, my sincere condolences to Karl, Paula and the rest of the McGettigan family.

Oh, and my IQ score (she was always wondering what it was) is 95.
