I’ve just heard this sad news. A mighty woman with a big heart. She warmly welcomed us in her house even when we might have been a bit unruly. She had class. My sympathies to all.
As a long-standing neighbour of the Bohans, may I extend my sincere sympathies to her four children, many grandchildren, and extended family, on this sad occasion of her passing.

I first got to know Michael and Therese when they moved in as newly-weds to become the next-door neighbours of my lifelong friend Freddie Moran in, I think, 1961, when they looked very much like their picture on the back of the Mass booklet. They were an ideally suited couple albeit opposites in some ways, the main difference being Therese's softly-spoken demeanour contrasting with her husband's normal spoken voice of 100 decibels. They were both exceptionally good neighbours throughout the years, and Therese herself was very supportive to me after I had surgery recently, checking up every day to receive a shopping list, a task which was invariably filled with an added top-up of a loaf of her famous and delicious brown bread.

Therese was a superb mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law to you all, and a wonderful neighbour to the rest of us. She will be sadly missed.
Very sorry to hear of your recent loss Claire. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
My sincere sympathy to you Helen and to all the family. I was very sorry to hear this sad news. May you find consolation in your happy memories and may your dear Mam Rest In Peace. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending sincere condolences to the Bohan family. I had the good fortune of being taught by Mrs Bohan for 5 years in Ard Scoil Ris from about 1990. She was a truly wonderful person and an amazing teacher who cared as much, if not more, about the person as she did the student and to this day I have such fond memories of her classes and am so grateful to her.

Mrs Bohan was my French teacher in Ard Scoil Ris in my final years there. She was always student-focussed and possessed a great sense of humour. To the Bohan so sorry for your loss Noel and I had a shop Yvonne's on the howth road. Your Mum and Dad were very regular customers always had a chat and a laugh, your Dad loved his spuds and was very fussy about them. We met your mum in St Annes about 2 years ago and she was in good form. She will be missed by everyone.

Dearest Helen, Michael, Claire and John; and ALL those who loved Tess dearly;
The loss of your Mum must be so hard for you to bear. She was indeed a very special Lady and she lived for the joy you all gave her everyday. For my part I wonder if I ever thanked her enough for all that she did for me. So Tess, thank you. Thank you for allowing me to call you Tess, even though I was terrified, as it was your dear husband who put me up to it. Thank you for the endless meals; your infamous brown bread (80% of our diet in Maynooth); for not batting an eyelid when I would arrive home with Claire. Every. Single. Weekend. Thank you for putting me up even when she wasn’t there; for laughing with me, at me and for just laughing. Thank you for helping me with my appalling French and for your grammar book, which I always insisted I was studying. For the many lifts to and from Maynooth and in and out of town, thank you. For treating me like one of your own and expecting little in return. For your advice and counsel in my formative years. Thank you for having your daughter Claire, a life long friend and so like you in many ways. For Helen, who accepted me as a stray and has the kindest heart. For Michael who, for one week, was perhaps the worst boyfriend ever (let’s face it Tess, you did spoil him) and for John, who just continues to bring joy and music wherever he goes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May you look down on all who love you and say with pride ‘I did good’.

and (Bohan) Families ~
My heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to you ALL on your huge loss.
I was truly saddened to hear of your Dear Mother's passing.
Tess was the BEST teacher I ever had (A.S.R. 1973-'78) ~ who actually succeeded in putting a working-class 'Donnycarnier' on the road to becoming a happy, consummate Francophone and -phile.
"By showing CARE..she EVOKED care": With great dignity, decorum, light-heartedness, occasional humour and a rare yet appropriate teacher-charm ~ she simply commanded RESPECT and..I never heard Tess raise her voice once in 5 years!
Tess gave me my love of and..for ALL things French and inspired me (in the first instance) to become a teacher myself.
My love of France ~ it's language, culture and sport and of..teaching (now retired)
brought much happiness to my life and I am forever grateful to Tess for lighting the spark.
"Thank You Tess!".
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire".
My thoughts and humble prayers are with you ALL at this sad and difficult time.
May Tess receive her Heavenly reward ~ richly deserved for a Life so well-lived and May She Rest in Peace, Amen 🙏
