My deepest sympathies to Maisie and all Tom's family on his passing. He was our excellent maths physics/applied maths lecturer in first year engineering in UCD in 1969-70; he also stood out among all our lecturers that year as someone who conversationally and with good eye-contact, engaged effectively with the large class of over 170 often giddy and rowdyish students, and with that same eye-contact always remained impressively in-charge, in control of the class. I will pray for him, and for you -all his family- at this tough time. May he rest in peace.
Deepest condolences to Maisie and family I have happy memories of working with Tom in Kevin Street and of meeting him in UCd He was a true gentleman and a scholar
So sad to hear Tom has died. My condolences to all his family. I remember them all well in the Kevin Street days. I have so many great memories of Tom in the College and in Delgany golf club and also Milltown. A very great thinker, very influencial and great fun. May he rest in peace.
A brilliant mathematician, lecturer and mentor who gave so much unselfishly to everyone under his care.

We wish to express our sincere condolences to Mrs Ambrose and family on the passing of Tom. We knew him for a long time, he was a true gentleman. May he Rest in Peace.
My condolences, as a former student of Tom (Maths), DIT (1960-1962), and later as a fellow lecturer and friend in the same college, (1968-79), to his wife, to his adult children, grandchildren, and family. How fortunate we all were to know this man, and you, as spouse, as a father and as a grandfather. Although Tom and I haven't met since the days of Christmas staff reunion dinners, I have an abiding memory of him.
My sincerest sympathy to Maisie and the Ambrose family. Tom was a wonderful member of the Maths/ Physics department and very welcoming when we arrived in 1974. He was a great lecturer to the sometimes unruly engineers including the new President of U C D.
Sadly I was unaware of his death and so missed his funeral. May he rest in peace.

We were very sorry to learn of Tom’s death and extend our condolences to
Maisie, Paula, Brona, John, Eamonn, and extended family. We were teenagers when we met Tom and Maisie in John and Moyra Walsh’s house in Merton Road. The welcome and interest in us that we consistently received from Tom and indeed Maisie wrapped always in such good humour left an indelible mark on both of us. He was the definition a good outward looking Irishman with a sparkling sense of humour always there for his friends in both good and challenging times. May he rest in peace.

On behalf of all the Minch family I offer our sincere condolences to you Maisie and family.
Tom was a wonderful warm kind and generous person and we were all the better for having known him. My children will never forget the terrific maths grinds they got from him. He had an amazing way of making a difficult subject enjoyable which they always commented upon.
For Marianne and myself, we got to know Tom over the years as a Milltown members. His wisdom, humour and friendliness to all of us marked him out and these characteristics served him well in his years as President of the Club in which role he was outstanding. he will be sorely missed.
