Condolences to the Fletcher family. I loved visiting Fletchers for a pint or or two, maybe three anytime I was in Naas. When the drink driving laws became a feature of modern life I sometimes got a Taxi into Naas just to visit Fletchers. Some of Tommy's regulars, like himself, were legends in their own right, and witty commentators of the human condition. Tommy was the ringmaster, a great wit himself but always the consummate diplomat, excellent host and the type of person who would put you in good humour. I remember a sing song years ago. To be honest, my warbling went on and on a bit too much and it was coming near to closing time anyway. Tommy whispers to me "one more verse Pat". Brilliant.

Our heartfelt sympathies to Mary, Elaine,Ciara and all Tommy's extended family. He will be greatly missed. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Naas will never be the same again. Tommy knew all of our names once he met us the first time, never forgot the nectar we drank. Before we knew it we would be welcomed, served with a smile the drink you were about to utter and order would appear on the spotless bar in front of you.

Until we meet again Tommy. Thanks for being here in my time. I will keep you in my prayers. May your soul rest in peace.

On behalf of all the past Apprentice we offer our sincerest condolences to all of Toms family. Given the restrictions on us apprentices about visiting public houses Fletchers was the go to place for a quite pint. The late Mick Nash, a staff member of the then Army School in Naas was a regular to Fletchers and Tom treated him with great kindness. We have no doubt both men are enjoying a catch up in the great hostelry in the sky. Rest in eternal peace Mr. Fletcher you were one of the greats.

Sleep well old friend - we have so many happy memories as the early evening crew who drank in the front bar for many years before you retired. There are less of us now. You'll never be forgotten.
