Thomas Francis (Frank) Harding

It was with sadness I heard of the recent passing of Frank from my good friend, Liam Holohan, in Watercastle, Durrow. I have many fond memories from the five years that I spent with the Bank of Ireland in Abbeyleix back in the days of Arthur Bardon and Cormac Lally and my many friends in Abbeyleix and Raheen and neighbouring areas. The Hibernian Hotel was such a part of the town in those times and I especially recall meeting the legendary Kerry sports writer, Con Houlihan of The Evening Press, in the hotel which was his favourite 'pit stop' on his way back to Dublin from matches in Thurles. I also recall meeting the great Ollie Walsh of Kilkenny hurling fame in the Hibernian Hotel in those times when Frank's dad, John, had such a warm welcome for all of us. Abbeyleix and its people retains a special place in my heart and always will. My condolences to Dolly and all the Harding family at this sad time.
