Thomas Hackett

We have just heard the sad news of Tom's passing. Tom was a wonderful kind, helpful, friendly and fun neighbour of ours in Cruachan Pk. Many loved memories of Tom and Finula from that time. Deepest condolences to all the family.

I am very sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He was such a gentleman so friendly and chatty whenever we’d meet. I did some housework for him in the last few months and was only chatting to him in the phone recently and he was in good spirits. RIP Tom.

I was saddened to learn of Tom's passing. Tom was a valued colleague in the Biochemistry Unit on UCG until career changes moved us to new places.

Sincere Sympathy to you all on Tom's [Tomas's death]. Tom was
our good neighbour in Cruachan Park [directly across the road] for
a number of years and we did have ' deorams ' together with
some of our neighbours in our local of the time.
He got me a good All Ireland ticket for Galway's 1998 successful
AllI Ireland football final. I nearly bought a gas converted car off
him [light brown/tan one which he had converted himself]. Tom
was brilliant at many things. Best wishes at this sad time.

Shocked and very saddened by the news of Tom’s passing. Will cherish the memories of times spent with Tom (and Finula) in Galway in the 1970s. Tom was gregarious, fun-loving, generous, hilariously witty and the best of company. He was urbane, debonair and charming. Weekends away with Tom at fleadh ceoils, camping in West Clare, Doolin and Fanore so memorable. Tom was a character.

I had the great fortune of knowing Tom in the Biochemistry Department - firstly as a PhD student where his knowledge was a great support and latterly when I joined the staff of the department. I particularly recall the fun and wit when we all went to the Coffee room for our breaks.
