Tom along with Elizabeth played a huge role in my growing up in Naas in the 1960's.
Tom was a very proud Dundalk man, and had great stories of players from Dundalk FC.
I will always remember his huge smile and laughter.

We have no doubt he has a special place in heaven with his wife Liz. The schools moto was " Nì Obair In Aisce ì, ( theres no work without gain ) Toms contribution in his everyday life was "Posativity" no better ingredient in any workplace. First met Thomas ( Speedy) when i joined the App school in 79, he was on duty and we got our kit that night, the clothing store was in the same building as the guard room, we soon found out the type of character he was as he put us at ease with his good humour and and since of fun, many a good memory, may Thomas Rest in Peace.

It was with great sadness I learned of the passing of my old friend and military collegue Tom. As my late dad was on the staff of the Army Apprentice School,I was brought on a number of occasions to class graduations ( passing out parades ) in the barracks. My father always handed me over to Tom to mind and bring me on a guided tour of the barracks. As the years passed I applied for an apprenticeship and in 1972 entered the school as a student apprentice. Toms opening remarks on meeting me in 72 was "have I still to mind you for the next three years" Tom was a super collegue and friend to all of the apprentices that passed through its famous gates. He was kind and considerate and had a super interest in the sporting activities of the students. He had an infectious laugh and an abundance of funny stories. People like Tom on the head quartes staff of the school watched out for us all and kept us smiling no matter what the day brought us. Someone once said: "True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it be lost" To Martin ,Ray,Catriona, Mary and all of the extended family,on behalf of the class of 1972 we offer our sincerest and deepest sympathy,may Tom rest in eternal peace reunited with his beloved Liz.
