Dear Angela,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Tom. What a lovely gentleman he was. Always in great humor and so many memories with the Dublin Barque Players. One comes to mind of our trip to America in 88 when we were all in Woodstock at the farm of Dexter and Sally. There he was sitting out in the field giving us his rendition of the theme from The Godfather. Smiling just thinking of it.

Dear Angela and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of dear Tom. He was a stalwart member of the Dublin Baroque Players and we played many fine concerts together both in Ireland and abroad. His musicianship was superb and his horn playing outstanding. I’ll never forget his amazing performance of the incredibly difficult first horn part of Mozart Symphony No. 29. We played it all over Germany and every time he played with pin-point accuracy and exquisite delicacy. I had to congratulate him every time! Tom was always happy to play with other orchestras, such as the Dublin Orchestral Players, and I conducted him many times with them. He was unassuming, always affable and totally dependable: over my 40 years of working with Tom I never heard him make a wrong entry. He was a pillar of my experience of music-making. I will miss him greatly.

My deepest sympathy to all of Tom's family, yet another French horn player has left us. My late husband Tom often spoke of Tom and I remember meeting him in the NCH on more than one occasion. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I was honoured to play alongside him on many occasions in Dublin Concert Band and other bands and orchestras. Tom was always so kind and encouraging to me, and I learned a lot from him, about music, horn playing and life. His quick wit and expert analysis of situations will stay with me forever. Tom was most generous with his musical knowledge, and I will really miss that, as I will miss Tom as a gentleman and wonderful horn player. I will try to remember his wise words as I navigate a world of horn playing that doesn't include him. His loss to amateur bands and orchestras all over Ireland is huge. To Angela, and all Tom's beloved family, I offer my sincere condolences. May Tom's gentle soul rest in peace.
