I had the privilege of working with Spud for a number of years in Inchicore, him as a master shunter and me as a shunter’s labourer (driver). What an absolute gentleman to work with who taught me more about safety than you could ever read in a book. Rest in peace Spud!

I worked with Thomas in the early 1980s in Inchicore and as many have written of him he was one of life's true gentlemen. Always helpful to trainees and others, ever the sharp wit and with a sense of humour that brightened the bleakest days while shunting in all weathers.
A good and a decent man, very sadly gone too soon.
May he rest in peace.

I was with tom as trainee shunter tom mentor me on the shunting in inchicore I learned a lot which stood to me over the years as a shunter he was very nice man and lot knowledge very sad when i heard he pass on condolences to his family rest in peace tom
