I was saddened to witness the passing of Tom Mc Cracken in recent day’s. We offer our sincere and deepest sympathy to Tom’s wife Martha and his family, to his sisters and his Aunt Mary and Brendan, relatives and friends and to the extended Mc Cracken and Tracey families on his untimely passing. Remembering Tom growing up and alway’s actively involved in something new, and his devotion to his parents and sisters. Meeting Tom occasionally over the years, [ he loved to be called Ned], Tom alway’s loved to talk about times past and his family history ,his Maternal grandparents Vincent and Kitty Tracey, and paternal Family the Mc Cracken’s , the big period House and Great walled Garden and Orchard at the bottom of Mc Cracken’s lane / Canal Banks,/ Connaught Street.
Tom always liked to introduce a bit of fun and “Sharp Wit” into the conversation, and indeed his "Sharp Wit" reminded me of the "Sharp Wit” of his maternal grandfather Vincent Tracey and his great friend old Mick Kerrigan from Connaught Street in the late 50’s and 60’s. Vincent Tracey and Mick Kerrigan were two of the great social character’s of times past from that neighbourhood and part of the great Fabric of the great Connaught street businesses, Mc Neill’s and Kirby’s. If you were in their company you would be regarded as “In Good Company”.
Remembering his parents Danny and Ann, the deceased members of the of the Tracey and Mc Cracken families at this time also.
May they all rest in peace.
