So sad to hear of Tom's passing. He was a gentle man full of wonderful stories and lore from the history of our McSweeney family. Sending love to Barbara and all of the family. He is missed.
I have such wonderful memories of our visit with Tom and Barbara when my sister, my niece and her husband visited Ireland in 2016. We still talk about that visit all the time. Tom was so much fun and we loved that he filled us in on lots of the history of our Irish ancestry. I'm only sorry I wasn't able to know him long before that visit in 2016. I send my sincere condolences to Barbara and the family..

Sincere Sympathy to Barbara, Fionnuala, Piaras, Eamon & Louise, Jonah and Ben on the death of your beloved husband, dad, dad-in-law and grandad, Tom. May his soul Rest in Peace.

We spent many lovely evenings in his company at the various 'Teacht le Chéile Síol tSuibhne na dTuath' venues, where he held his audience captive with his re-call of detail and the ease with which he delivered his speeches-- with the odd tall tale thrown in! Tom was, indeed, a gentleman and a scholar. He will be sorely missed.

Thinking of you all as you bid 'Slán go Fóill' le Tomás

Hi, please accept my condolences on your sad loss.
Please accept my heart felt condolences on the loss of Tom. He was a giant of a man, a proud Donegaller and the bearer of the illustrious "Mac Suibhne na d'Tuath" lineage, which he bore this with distinction, honour & pride. My abiding memory of Tom is how he regailed us with stories, histories and tales at the Mount Errigal hotel during the Flight of the Earls commemorations (2007). For a brief moment, it was like stepping back in time to the ancient hall of Doe, with the Chief, illustrious guests, clan and Bards! This is how i shall always remember Tom, a gentleman of noble bearing. He will be deeply missed, especially by his family, who now carry the torch of the Sweeney lineage into the future. Go ndéana Dia trócaire air a anam.
Sincere sympathy & prayers to Barbara, Piaras, Fionnuala, Eamon and extended family on the sad loss of Tom. Go raibh leaba i measc na Naomh aige.
