A great shop steward, a great balladeer, real Union, real solidarity, real sport. We have a great picture of the great Tom as a centre half with St James’ Gate in our house. Was MC at my father’s retirement do in Timmon’s on the quays many moons ago, was so kind to me & my sisters then & over the years.

Tom and I joined Guinness's on the same day in September '65, almost 55 years ago. We became great friends. He had great integrity and unconditional generosity. I loved, admired and respected Tom, a fabulous person.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Tom. He was a big man in every sense of the word and a natural leader too. He steered us in Guinness through some very difficult times and we owe him an awful lot for his service and loyalty. RIP. TOM

Tom was a much loved and respected by the wider Guinness community and always had a friendly word for everyone. I particularly remember him playing tennis in Iveagh Grounds for the Guinness Tennis Club in Inter-Departmental and League competitions.
