Tom and I were in the training colleges at the same time and of course the Clare people always got to know each other!
My next encounter with him was when he came to Our Lady of Victories Boys' School on July 1, 1965 - I was in the Girls' School the day it opened Jan 4, 1965. He was still in OLV - but then as principal - when I took early retirement.
You will miss him a lot but I am sure he is happy to be reunited with your Mam.

To Joan & family, I am very sorry to hear about the death of your beloved father, Tom. You always spoke so highly of him to me in school and I very much enjoyed hearing all of the stories of his time as a school principal. He really did seem like a fantastic teacher, principal and father. I am thinking of you all at this very difficult time. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a Anam.

Tom played a very important part in the setting up and founding of our Club Beech Park in the early eightys and was Captain in 1984 and also subsequently President and it was a pleasure working with him in those years. Both my wife Terri and I shared many a laugh and enjoyable company with both Tom and his late wife Kay. May he rest in peace.

Tom was always a wonderful uncle, a hero in childhood, heading off to Dublin on his motorbike, a source of advice as a teenager and young adult and a cherished friend in later life. We will miss him as we miss all of that dynamic generation. Lots of love to our dear cousins, Joan, Brian and Niamh at this sad time. And, sorry that we cannot give you a hug in person at this emotionally charged time. Requiescat in Pace.
