Dear Anne, Claire , Ben and Lucy
I cannot appreciate the full depth of loss you feel at this sad time. When we lose someone close to us it is painful. It is also a reminder of who we are and the importance of those we care most about.
All the more important we that take time to reflect on the experience. The experience of sharing a moment in time with someone who brightened our own lives immeasurably and was truly special. We are the lucky ones.
Tommy was unique. Blessed with intelligence, integrity and only the finest qualities one could ever imagine. Blessed also with a deep sense of caring and generosity for others. He brought the best out in everyone. Tommy's sense of humour was infectious. And there is nothing more energising than having a great laugh. We had plenty of those (Anne, my apologies once again for the china cup - he would never let me forget whenever we met for a coffee. But it was always in good fun).
Boss, mentor and most importantly my friend. A true friend. He was the inspiration behind some unique business initiatives that will always be to his credit.
When much younger I asked him why we couldn't pursue a certain path. He responded by saying "There is no such thing as black and white. Only shades of grey." That was a life lesson.
Tommy always occupied a very special place in my thoughts. And this will always be the way.
Anne, please take strength from your wonderful family. Tommy will always be with you.
