I was lucky enough to have Tom as a student in a Return to Learning course in Maynooth University. Tom was a lovely, warm and generous man, well liked and thought of by his classmates and teaching staff alike. He will be missed. Rest in peace.

Condolences on the untimely passing of Tom. So sad to hear this news. He was a character and always in great form. I have many great memories from our school days, in Brannockstown NS, CBS Naas and the lifts I got to CBS with him and his uncle in the green VW Beetle. May he rest in peace.

Tom was an outgoing man with a zest for life and a range of interests. I always enjoyed his company. Won't forget him. His friend, Adrian

My deepest condolences to the Kelly Family & Relatives. May he rest in peace. I was in school with Tom and ended up sharing a house with him in Carlow in the late 80's near the college. So many memories and one or 2 wild nights thrown in !. I would meet him now then over the years. He was a very inspiring person and always very positive. Very saddened he is no longer with us.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. I had the privilege of working with him, and I always loved our chats about travel and history and of course horse's. it was truly a pleasure to know him.

In shock to hear of Tom's passing.
We studied in the 'Return to Learning' at Maynooth last year and we always had great chats.
When we moved into the first year of our degrees this year, we saw each other less, but had the same English class briefly in semester 2, he always made me feel so comfortable in the fact that we were older then the rest of the class, even if I was only 5 or 6 years older, and him...a bit more then that, he joked.
We often chatted about books, and he tried to get me up to speed on history (and failed). I will miss our chats deeply and a friendly face calling out my name whenever he saw me on campus. A great man with an amazing drive to learn.

I had the pleasure of teaching Michael in first semester English. He was very passionate about his subject and a gentleman always in class.
I bumped into him about two weeks before the end of semester and he was in good form.
